Example: "E:\GOG Games\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe" -HmdEnable 1 If you dont want to have steam then look into OpenComposite it will give you a openvr_api.dll and let you go VR steamless. The latest patch has allowed all settings to be enhanced and HBAO on without much (if any) reprojection when using a proper VR system. It's not the graphics cards that are causing the VR issues though, it's heavily reliant on the CPU which, as far as I recall is what the HMDs also rely on for tracking etc. Before 2020, i5-4460, gtx 970, playing No Mans Sky VR with acceptable framerate, I do not remember lagging. Now - with i5-13600KF and 3060 ti, the gpu 3060 ti is bottlenecked at 99% if I do not use DLSS-Performance. If I used DLSS-Performance I get blurred image but the FPS is mostly 90, sometimes drops to 80 and GPU is at around 75%. Yeah, it is a badly optimazed game, I also had to lower a lots of settings with a 5600x and a 3080. The Steam VR test is really old. It's designed for headsets from 2016. Headsets now are much higher resolution and the Steam VR test is basically useless. No Man's Sky VR is just a horrible unoptimized mess. Finally got Link working on my PC after receiving REALLY bad advice from Oculus Support (i.e. Yes you are on the latest Quest software, when in fact I was on v8), and most things I've tried so far are very smooth. However, No Man's Sky, running via SteamVR is awful - really laggy, gittery, etc. Unplayable. This seems odd, as on my previous PC I Only few VR games are able to take your breath away, and it seems that No Man's Sky VR was able to do just that, as it is a masterpiece when it comes to its QNDu8. Change your oculus plug in locations. Check the cables going into your headset to verify they are snug. No Man's Sky - 8KX - RTX 3090 - Ryzen 5950X. As a guy who loves Space Ive found myself in No Man's Sky VR to be quite interesting. And because of this I want to make sure I have maxed out on graphics and performance in the past way possible. I'm running the game with the following PiTools settings: Fov: Normal. Render Quality: 0.5. Recently I have been trying to play NMS VR but, the performance is absolutely shocking. I use virtual desktop + Oculus Quest 2. When running NMS on a normal desktop, I can run the game at 90 fps, maximum graphics (GTX1650/16GB RAM) and it is very very smooth. There are explicit in game settings for VR (pretty much all low) you should follow as well as 100% make sure there is no supersampling turned on in steamvr or in oculus tray tool. Steamvr must always be on top when you switch to VR. If it helps, I have better experiences with VD though AL worked too. It also runs well on a 3080 and G2. Of course it's expensive but all I'm saying is that it's possible to solve those problems with expensive hardware. You need to run at a high resolution and you need an HMD that can display this high resolution. But you can still get good results with DLSS.
